Ahahaha. It's done. For now...at least I'm going to call it done.

Down in that there corner, that's a baby. A glowing baby. And when do babies glow? When they're gods. (ooh)

Up there in the sky? That's Hera. Hera knows her hubby's been cheating on her again, and she's lookin' for the little one.

See that black stick-like thing? That's a tree. With a face. Oh Em Gee. Guess where I got the idea for that?

I'm pretty sure there isn't a story about a living tree sheltering Zeus's baby from Hera in Greek Mythology, but for all Zeus's unfaithfulness and Hera's creativity in turning women into things, it wouldn't surprise me.

I lovelovelove the texture work in this. I also love the colours and techniques! Especially that the black section with the tree seems like felt, or crushed velvet, and physically flat [read: not artistically!] Like it's theoretically negative space.
Then I look at the rush of vibrant colours and the forceful figure. There's soso much movement and energy in this, I can't even describe! The figure of the wind really does look forceful, and it looks like the sky's textures appear to add to the forceful push. It's very slightly choppy, compared to the smooth-as-silk texture of the black tree - which really adds to the conflict of the differences between the two parts of the painting, which ultimately create an even stronger bond for the entire composition as a whole.
When I look back and forth from the colourful sky to the blackened tree, it's the difference between night and day, but I see it almost in a 3D difference. Because of the 'flat' black, the colours of the sky [also because of the textural difference of slightly choppy vs. smooth] pop out insanely, making the picture seem like it's... not on a canvas, but its own entity and shape. Am I even making sense. Aurgh.
My favourite part is how the painting really is mainly 'divided' into the vibrant and black portions, which are very interesting, shape-wise. They're not predictable shapes at all, and seeing either/or as the negative space is mindboggling. I love it, I love it, I love it.
